Mar135 Questions to Ask Before Hiring a Personal Trainer

When it comes to to finding the best personal trainer there is more to it then simply picking the person with the best physique. Just because someone looks the part does not mean they are the best or the right coach for you. Now certainly your trainer should talk the talk but just know that you should not just go off looks alone. There are a ton of factors that go into finding the right coach for your fitness goals and needs.

Here are 5 questions to ask before hiring one

  1. What certifications do they have? You need to know your trainer has a base knowledge and is legit. Having a degree in the health and fitness field is a bonus. Keep in mind that a certification does not always equal the best coach so don’t just simply go with a trainer because they are certified.
  2. What experience do they have training clients with goals like your own? So the first step would be to figure out what your specific goal is. Do you want to lose body fat? Gain muscle? Increase your endurance? Here’s why that’s so important: Many trainers will do the exact same workouts with every client without adjustments. Generally this is the way that they themselves got in shape. You want someone who will train you and for your goals.
  3.  What are some testimonials they have? You would like to see and hear about current and former success stories.
  4.  How long have they been in the field and why did they get into it in the first place? You want someone who is truly passionate about helping others and who has had some experience doing it.
  5. What is their personality? The best thing is to sit down and interview them. This is going to be a team effort so you want to make sure it is a fit between the two of you.
